Product designers love to experimentate, but it quite impossible when using only library components. We are the same people — a lot of detached instances all over the document and no free time to clean this mess. Once we thought, what if we will have a plugin that will do this for us — find detached instances, hardcoded colors and font styles with broken links. Then we come with an idea.

How we made it

Fix Your Mess is a result of a two-week work. This is the plugin that scans your Figma designs and helps you tidy up your work.

How it works

Simple as it is — scan all pages of the current Figma document, find all detached instances and decide what to do with them. You can delete them, push changes to the original component or add your detached instance as a new component to the library.

Results

We tested it in our design team and in some teams in other friendly companies, and received a warm feedback. After three itertaions on the flow we came to very interesting results — this pugin saved form 20% to 40% of time need to clean up the files after finishing the work on experimental tasks and speeds up.

Public release

We think that it’s a cool practice when you share something that helps people. This is a good example of our mindset. We shared this plugin for free in Figma Community.

You should definitely check this out if you are a designer:
